As a mom and the president at mindbodygreen, my day starts really early. A typical day consists mostly of back-to-back meetings and calls, so I try to do a lot of the actual thinking and tasks before the official workday even begins. But between summer camp drop-off for my daughter and the fact that I don’t drink coffee in the morning, summoning enough energy to kick start my day can be a challenge, to say the least. 

By 3 p.m. or 4 p.m., I’ll often experience an inevitable mid-afternoon slump. It’s often in this lull of energy that I’m tempted to reach for a snack—and not necessarily a healthy one. Sometimes I will have the willpower to resist it, but sometimes…not so much.
