Sumer Johnson and Andrew Clayton are the respective strongwoman and strongman champions of the 2023 Clash on the Coast. The contest took place on Mar. 24-26, 2023, in Hilton Head, SC. The strongwoman division featured was U82KG. The strongman division featured was U105KG. Both portions of the strength contest included twelve athletes.

Johnson claimed her victory by four points over runner-up Jodi Kennedy. Jessica Mitchell rounded out the Woman’s podium in third. On the Men’s side, Clayton won by a slim half-point over Dan Hughes, while Matt McKeegan came in third place.

Clash on The Coast 2023 – The Finals

Fifteen events over three days (five per day) comprised the 2023 Clash on the Coast. They are as follows, in order:

This victory is the first of Johnson’s professional career. Per Strongman Archives, Johnson has participated in three career contests to date. Johnson previously finished in fifth place at the 2022 America’s Strongest Woman (ASW) and in fourth place at the 2017 Arnold Amateur Strongwoman World Championships.

Conversely, Clayton’s victory officially unseats former defending champion Isaac Maze. According to Strongman Archives, this victory is the fourth of Clayton’s 11-contest career. Other highlights include a win at the 2022 U105 Strongman World Championships, the 2018 Official Strongman Games (OSG), and the 2017 U105 World’s Strongest Man.

Clash on The Coast 2023 – U82kg Women

For Johnson, this first victory is a milestone achievement in her strongwoman career. For Clayton, it’s another notch in the belt of an established strongman. For both, the 2023 Clash on the Coast was an excellent showcase of their power.
